Disabilities Awareness Merit Badge Sept.

The scouts and cubs took their time to go over a subject that’s often not given much thought to, interacting with people with disabilities. We started the night with a lesson on how we use person first language like “person who uses a wheelchair” not the wheelchair guy. Then we had an exercise where we pretended to be visually impaired and used a partner to navigate the parking lot. Finally to end the night we visited an exhibit that displayed the concepts of universal design.
